Wonderful staff, always excellent service!
Yes
Top quality food and service 👍
I had a blood orange margarita which was fantastic. The bread before the meal was very good. My steak was overcooked. I should have said something but didn't. My family member complained about my steak to the waitress who wished I would have said something. They discounted it by $5. Should have been more in our opinion but it is what it is. My husband's ribeye was ok, he gave me some of his and it was juicy but lacked flavor a bit. My aunt loved her chili dusted salmon but my uncle didn't think to much of his steak and potatoes. They used to own a dinner house and know good food and one liked it & one didn't so, my husband & I both thought it was a bit pricey.
We had tried this place last year when we passed through Taos and it was really good. Unfortunately our dinner last night was mediocre at best. The steaks were definitely not the quality they should have been for prime pricing and the sides were simply bad. Hopefully their managment gets this place back on track.
Friendly staff. Comfortable atmosphere. Full bar. Good steak selection. The chef is Rudy Vigil. The building was the blacksmith who fix the famous broken wheel of the two artists, Blumenchein and Phillips in 1898. Later the artists would start the Taos Artist Society in 1915.
We mostly went for the happy hour - the prices were good during happy hour, but a bit high otherwise (my opinion). The drinks were tasty, the service was great! We also had a couple appetizers which were very good also - the fried pickles, I believe, were my favorite. It has a great location and a wonderful outside seating area. Would recommend if you are staying in Taos!
This is a pretty good steak house. Now many times when people criticize calling a steakhouse fine dining because after all are you can do to a good steak is either cook it correctly, or ruin it. in reality Ambience setting and presentation of the food are what separate the run of the mill chain restaurant in this category from these small locally-owned restaurants. Whoever runs this clearly cares. The deserts are over-the-top fancy, but you can also get the basics, well-executed and tasty. You also get what you pay for oh, wait times can be substantial at busy times of day, and it's not cheap.
Absolutely loved this place! Everything we ordered was delicious. Definitely recommend the wedge salad, grapefruit margarita, 6oz filet and pine nut bread pudding. My only complaint would be that they gave us more mashed potatoes, with our steak, than we could eat. My husband ordered the strip and while he loved it, he kept trying to steal my filet. It was THAT good. Everyone was super friendly and the setting was very cozy. Best place we have eaten in Taos.
Love the atmosphere , the excellent service and the food is exceptional especially the steaks !
First time trying this place hands down best place to eat in Taos if your looking for a fine dinning experience and amazing American twist food selection steak was hands down the best melt in your mouth ( prime rib)
We've eaten here a few times and always look forward to returning. We try something different from the menu each time and haven't been disappointed. We can eat and talk without raising our voices. Beautiful calm setting.
I never ever review. I could have run the restaurant better. Great building. But that’s about it. We were comped all six dinners. We paid for wine. Potato’s came out very ( seriously) cold. Not tepid. Cold. Not made from scratch. Everything is processed frozen food except vegetables. Steaks were not grade a for the price. Not cooked properly. Bread was the only thing we survived on until we left to go to another restaurant. Oh and I hate when I order a caprese salad and they hardly put mozzarella on the plate. I mean. WTF. Just close. Rehire, retrain and start over. Seriouly.
I had, what was presented as bouillabaisse, which was simply, mussels in a tomato broth, way to salty. Would have enjoyed some French bread with it. I will try again, everyone has an off night.
Centrally located just off the Taos plaza. Fine food and first class margaritas best taken on their beautiful, dog-friendly patio.
Great steak and mashed potatoes. I recommend the filet. Nice, romantic environment. The multiple menus were overwhelming.
Wonderful flavor and nice presentation. Friendly staff.
Chicken Cordon Blue overcooked. Old Fashion very bad.
Excellent food and service
Amazing time. Had lunch there the lamb salad was delicious and cook to perfect medium rare. We enjoyed the Martyrs signature Margaritas. Our server was Sandy she was fun and funny. Outstanding service. We enjoyed it so much that we went back for dinner. We sat on the patio it was a beautiful night and we're so pleasantly surprised that Sandy was our server for dinner. I recommend everyone to go 5-stars all the way around.
This place has a cute atmosphere, delicious lunch and great service.
Came here in June. I don’t normally post reviews but I agree with previous poster being able to run restaurant better. Atrocious service, slow kitchen and very mediocre food - and that’s being generous. So disappointed as I had passed by multiple times. The restaurant was not busy at the time of our visit, earlier in the evening, so it was hard to excuse. Great location but given so many other terrific options in and around town this place needs to go back to the drawing board to be sustainable.
My son and I dined there in celebration of a big hike in the Taos Ski Valley. This place was highly recommended by local residents. Wonderful, classy atmosphere, some amazing entrees, appetizers and desserts. Presentation is important there and it shows. You feel special as a customer. Warm, homey atmosphere.
Very good food! My mom and I didn't know how fancy it was so we went in after shopping outside all day.....
What a delicious place. We have had a couple of meals and found the food and drinks fantastic and the service impeccable. We were lucky to have Tanya both times. Look for a good happy hour 2:30 till 5:00 and till 6 for drink specials.
We were the only people at this restaurant and we're subjected to non-existent service and an unacceptably long wait time for our food to be brought to us. We received no status of our food during. However when we did receive our food, we did find it to be fairly good.
The food is a bit pricey, but portions are generous. We have been here about five times, and the food was great each visit. They have very interesting specials. Beautiful place, too. Great option for lunch or dinner.
Best restaurant we tried in Taos. Nice menu, good service, and warm, inviting decor. Lunch one day on the outdoor patio, dinner next day in dining room. Highly recommend.
Love this place. We came from Albuquerque the food was really good. Great customer service. Steven is an amazing server he had ous laughing. 5 stars
When Martyrs Steakhouse booked a dinner reservation on December 11 for my family for Christmas night we were in a bad position when we showed up to a completely dark and empty establishment. Not a great way to spend Christmas night when you're not familiar with the city. Thanks to Nova at Lambert's of Taos, we not only had a wonderful meal but did so with service that was so very appreciated.A huge thank you to Lambert's and Nova. Lambert's is absolutely amazing and I would recommend it to anyone.Martyr's, you should be ashamed and embarrassed to even pretend to be a reputable high end restaurant. At some point your building will end up like one of the other empty and dilapidated ones around town. Your inability to extend so much as a simple phone call speaks volumes as to how little you value your customers.
Wonderful steak dinner and our waiter Richard was the best!
My boyfriend and I experienced the worst customer service from the start....we walked in for a table and the hostess barely acknowledged us and when she did, she made up every excuse to not get us a table. We walked out and went to Lamberts instead.
Great food! Had lobster mac and cheese. Was not only great but there was more than I could eat. The dessert was some of the best I've ever had. Was checked on multiple times by waiter and had a great experience overall.
Cold steak ,waited over an hour for. Service mediocre at best
Service was great and food was delicious! The atmosphere was very nice too.
If you have a steakhouse the steak should be able to be cut with a butter knife it was not.
Great food with a full bar!
Called at 6pm to see if they could accommodate a party of 14. They were more than happy to assist us! Our waitress was phenomenal. She checked on us regularly to refill drinks & make sure everyone was happy. I ordered the filet cooked medium & it was perfect! It came with rosemary mashed potatoes which were amazing. It also came with roasted veggies: asparagus, carrots, zucchini, & squash I believe, and they were tasty as well. None of us had room for dessert, so I can't speak on that. Great food, great service, and great experience!
Chef Cloe was especially exceptional executing great presentation on my meal!
Slow service, good food. Most meals are going to be around $45 per person with (1) drink and tip.
Been there for dinner more than a few times and had great experiences. Lunch today was a different story. Service sucked. Won't be back and I'll definitely stop pointing people in this direction.
Great food and staff. Very nice outdoor dining.
We had a wonderful lunch at Martyrs Steakhouse. The service was excellent, the menu extensive and eclectic, and the prices very reasonable. We had lamb tacos, a blue cheese burger, and excellent onion rings. The drinks wew good too!
Amazing food with large portions. Fantastic staff!
Best burger in town. Skip the burger centric joints in town which are watery, bland, and without real menu cause to go, and just go to Martyr's. Their steaks and appetizers are all fantastic, and whether you're dining inside, or out, you can expect it to be a great experience.
Great food and super friendly staff. Our server pointed out a few things to do in the area. Prices reflect the quality of the food, and they cater to dietary needs.
Ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger, 30 minutes later waiter shows up to tell me they cant make it cause meat was frozen???????. Did not get my dinner and just watched my party eat so just left to find another establishment while my party ate. One person in my party received a completely cold meal. Lousy excuse for a steakhouse
Martyrs has recently been taken over by the wonderful Kimberly Armstrong who owns The Trading Post Cafe, and I could not be happier for her and her team! I have eaten at Martyrs quite frequently over the last few weeks, and the service is impeccable; the food is outstanding; the outside patio dining area is extremely comfortable and relaxing. This is must-do when you are in town and looking for an excellent restaurant. You will not be disappointed!
Absolutely horrendous service. Nobody picked up the phone upon attempting to make a reservation, and upon arrival, the waitress was extremely rude to my girlfriend and I. Refused us service and proceeded to make excuses to not serve us. I will not suggest to my friends or family.
